Dehydrocorydaline, an alkaloid derived from the tubers of Corydalis ambigua, with potential anti-tumor activity it significantly inhibits MCF-7 cell proliferation in a dose- dependent manner. ......by BOC Sciences
Dehydrocorydaline, an alkaloid isolated from traditional Chinese herb Corydalis yanhusuo W.T. Wang, is reported to possess anti-tumor potential. IC50 value: Target: In vitro: Dehydrocorydaline significantly inhibited MCF-7 cell proliferation in a dose- dependent manner, which could be reversed by a caspase-8 inhibitor, Z-IETD-FMK. Dehydrocorydaline increased DNA fragments without affecting ΔΨm. Dehydrocorydaline dose-dependently increased Bax protein expression and decreased Bcl-2 protein expression. Furthermore, dehydrocorydaline induced activation of caspase-7,-8 and the cleavage of PARP without affecting caspase-9 [1]. Dehydrocorydaline significantly inhibited cardiac fibroblasts proliferation (P 0.01); The percentage of S+G2+M phase cardiac fibroblasts decreased (P 0.01); The secretion of collagenⅠand collagen Ⅲ as reduced (P 0.05, P 0.01). DHC can reduce cardiac fibroblasts proliferation, decrease collagen secretion of cardiac fibroblasts cultured by high glucose, and has potential effects of anti-myocardial fibrosis [2]. Dehydrocorydaline can suppress L-type calcium channel in a concentration-dependent manner. Dehydrocorydaline(10,100 μmol·L-1) could inhibit L-type calcium channel current peak and the inhibitory rates were (9±7.5) % (n=5)and (28.6±8.5) % (n=5) individually [3].
